Albert J. Ferrera is a partner with Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., and practices in the firm’s Tampa office. His areas of practice include insurance, nursing home, hospital, medical malpractice, employment discrimination and workers’ compensation defense litigation in state and federal courts. He has also practiced employment and administrative law representing municipalities, public utilities, and healthcare entities before the Public Employee Relations Commission and the Florida Department of Administrative Hearings.
Mr. Ferrera first joined Quintairos, McCumber, Prieto & Wood, P.A., in 1999. In 2003, he left to form McCumber, Inclan, Daniels, Valdez, Buntz & Ferrera, P.A., before returning to Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., in 2006.
Mr. Ferrera has been assigned an AV-rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer recognition for ethical standards and legal ability. He is licensed to practice in all Florida state courts and in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, and Middle Districts of Florida, and is a member of the bar of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
A graduate of the University of South Florida, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1994, Mr. Ferrera earned a Juris Doctor from the Florida State University College of Law in 1997. There, he was President of the Spanish-American Law Student Association and Vice President of the Federalist Society.
Mr. Ferrera is a coauthor of “Integrated Health Services v. Redway: The Applicability of Florida’s Medical Malpractice Pre-Suit Provisions to Claims Alleging Residents’ Rights Violations,” published in the Andrews Nursing Home Litigation Reporter [Volume 3, Issue 6, December 29, 2000]; and author of “Florida Appellate Court Bars Ex Parte Communications With Non-Party Treating Physicians,” published in the Andrews Nursing Home Litigation Reporter [Volume 6, Issue 12, December 12, 2003].
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Ferrera took part in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990–1991, earning the Combat Action Ribbon as a crew chief of an armored Amphibious Assault Vehicle with the Second Marine Division.
